Catherine brought up a good point that projects are very important in differentiating instruction. Teachers can DI in at least four classroom elements: content, process, product and learning environment. Sometimes we forget about the product part. I mentioned that it’s important we give our students opportunities to reflect on their work and not rush; it’s okay if we have to take another day. Especially because our students feel that sense of accomplishment afterwards. Larissa said that she was ending a type of formative assessment because it wasn’t benefiting her or the students. I think that part of DI is very important. I never thought about DI that way; reflecting on your own work and whether or not it’s working.
